Noel Isherwood

 

Noel studied architecture first at Canterbury School of Art followed by the Architectural Association in London, where he received the AADipl. 

For a number of years he exhibited paintings at the annual SSA exhibition (Society of Artist Architects) at the RIBA in Portland Place. He has been exhibited in a number of other places including the 'Ligne et Coleur' in Paris. His work has generally taken  its cue from Londons urban landscape and his work in this exhibition is no exception.

Marianne Botha

Marianne studied painting in South Africa before coming to work in London. She has developed a very individual approach to portraits which can be seen from the examples in this exhibition.

 

Ruth Garrett

Ruth studied illustration at Camberwell School of Arts. Prior to this she had studied Chinese. She has more recently been working with photographic techniques such as photograms ans silk screen printing. Her work is now more closely related to fine art than illustration.

 

Kanya Lai-Panyavong

Kanya is a young poet from Nashville Tennessee, living and working in London. Her latest poetry is inspired by her recent experiencies in London and you will be able to read and listen to some of her work in the exhibition.

 

Viki Metzler

Viki studied animation at St Martins School of Art. Before that she was in Switzerland and created Murals and hardlandscape design using mosaic. She is now creating stories and cartoons as political, humanitarian and spiritual issues stir her up. She will be submitting a cartoon and a short animation to the exhibition in March.

Faye Phimister

Faye is working from a studio in the East End and would like to exhibit her work in more galleries. She says...

..."I come from Buckie (small fishing town on N/E coastI come from Buckie (small fishing town on N/E coast Scotland), now 28 years old. Didn't originally study Art/painting. Started physiotherapy at Glasgow but due to ill health had to give it up.

Through Art Therapy, started to draw again(did do art at school). ... Did BA(hons) at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, then MA at Royal College. Brought up in Church of Scotland did Alpha on arrival to London and been at
HTB since (4 yrs)."

 

John Britten

John studied at ... He is a painter in oils and has developed a very particular style of pencil drawings. He takes his inspiration from the gritty reality of inner city urban landscape. In this exhibition he has taken Kings Cross as his starting point in his series, 'The Cross'.

 

Barry Dunnage

Barry studied at .... During the period of New Labours elections victory Barry was graphic image designer to the Labour Party and ran the visual communications department at Mill Bank. Since then he has resigned his membership of the Labour Party for political reasons.

On Monday 20th October 2003 Barry gave the Club Urban exhibition launch talk 'Art, Politics and the Teaching of Christ' when he showed a wide range of provocative images and include some of his own work revealing the inner life of New Labour.
